- 3 bananas sliced
- 1 cup sugar
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk
- 3 egg yolks beaten
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 box vanilla wafers
In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat and cook for 2 more minutes. Remove from heat.
Gradually whisk about 1 cup of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks, then return all to the saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 2 more minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
Layer half of the vanilla wafers in the bottom of a serving dish. Top with half of the sliced bananas and half of the pudding. Repeat layers. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
