Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Steak (ribeye or sirloin) at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper freshly ground
  • 2 cloves Garlic smashed
  • 2 sprigs Fresh thyme
  • 2 tablespoon Butter

Instructions 

  1. 1. Preheat your cast iron skillet over high heat until it's smoking hot.
  2. 2. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  3. 3. Add olive oil to the skillet and swirl to coat.
  4. 4. Place the steaks in the skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until a crust forms.
  5. 5. Add garlic, thyme, and butter to the skillet. Tilt the skillet and spoon the melted butter over the steaks for another 1-2 minutes.
  6. 6. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C).
  7. 7. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
