French Onion Soup
A classic French soup made with caramelized onions and beef broth, topped with melted cheese.

- 4 large Onions thinly sliced
- 4 cups Beef broth
- ½ cup White wine
- 2 tablespoon Butter
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon Black pepper
- 4 slices French bread toasted
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese grated
1. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Add the onions and cook until caramelized, about 25 minutes.
3. Stir in the sugar and cook for another 5 minutes.
4. Add the white wine and bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes.
5. Add the beef broth, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
6. Preheat the oven to broil.
7. Ladle the soup into oven-safe bowls, top with toasted bread and grated cheese.
8. Broil until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 3-5 minutes.
