Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 8 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 star anise
  • 0.25 cup sugar
  • 0.25 cup brandy (optional)

Instructions 

  1. Pour the wine into a pot.
  2. Add the orange slices, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and sugar.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it just barely reaches a simmer.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the brandy if using.
  6. Strain and serve warm.
