Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Dried Navy Beans rinsed and sorted
  • 1 lb Ham diced
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 cups Carrots sliced
  • 2 cups Celery sliced
  • 8 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme dried
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper to taste

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse and sort the beans. Place them in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and let sit for 1 hour. Drain and rinse beans.
  2. 2. In the same pot, add the beans, ham, onion, garlic, carrots, celery, chicken broth, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  3. 3. Reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until beans are tender. Stir occasionally.
  4. 4. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot.
