Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Dried split peas rinsed
  • 1 Ham bone
  • 1 cup Chopped ham
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 Carrots chopped
  • 2 Celery stalks chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 8 cups Chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • to taste Salt

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large pot, combine split peas, ham bone, chopped ham, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, chicken broth, thyme, and black pepper.
  2. 2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  3. 3. Remove the ham bone and discard. Season the soup with salt to taste.
  4. 4. Serve hot and enjoy!
